Author

Ryan Guilfoyle (pictured age 11 and below left with his father, Larry) was born and raised in a small town in Far North Queensland and always loved to write stories as a child. Like many country kids, he played lots of sport, particularly cricket and hockey.

Ryan started playing cricket when he was five years old and his dad still remembers the day he informed him “He would never make a duck in cricket”. While admiring his confidence, his dad tried to caution him and lessen the blow by referring to the legendary Don Bradman and the fact that even he got a duck. The inevitable duck reared its head, sooner rather than later.

When he was 14, Ryan broke his leg playing cricket and this was the catalyst of his creative journey. During his recovery, he taught himself to play the guitar and started to write songs and music.

Ryan still resides in Far North Queensland where he is a devoted partner and father to his son. He continues to create music and still enjoys watching cricket.

“The Golden Duck” is his first book, though he has expressed that he has many more story ideas, which he hopes to share in the future.
